Water-cooled, 4-cylinder in-line engine with cooled external exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), available with or without turbocharging and with or without charge-air cooling.

• A powerful common-rail injection system and efficient combustion, combined with cooled external EGR, ensure optimum engine performance with low fuel consumption and low emissions.
• The DVERT® oxidation catalyst enables maintenance-free operation under all applications and ambient conditions, meeting EU Stage IIIB and U.S. EPA Tier 4 emissions standards. The DVERT® particulate filter (DPF) is available as an option. With the introduction of EU Stage V, the DPF becomes standard on all engine variants. Equipped with the diesel particulate filter, the engines already comply with the EU Stage V emissions standard, expected to take effect from 2019.*
• To simplify machine integration, the Stage V engines keep the same compact dimensions and all major installation interfaces unchanged.
• Oil change intervals of up to 1,000 hours and a maintenance-free valve train reduce service costs and increase machine uptime.
• Extremely compact engine design and user-friendly accessories lower installation costs and broaden the range of applications.
• 100% power take-off via flywheel and front end, plus an additional side PTO drive delivering up to 120 Nm of torque, allowing up to two hydraulic pumps to be mounted.
• Engine variants without exhaust aftertreatment (EAT) are available for EU Stage IIIA, U.S. EPA Tier 4i and less regulated markets.
• New high-power variants extend the 2.9 platform output up to 100 hp.
• New high-torque variants under 56 kW deliver exceptionally powerful performance.
